Peter Bolton, 1929-2014: Farewell to an old friend

0

My old friend Peter Bolton has died at the age of 85 after a long illness. Peter was one of the leading lights of the British motorcycle and cycle industry during the latter half of the twentieth century. I have known him for fifty years, during which time he was my friend and mentor and was unfailingly supportive of my efforts as I developed my own career. Peter, a Yorkshireman by birth,  was a right character as you can tell from his picture. They don’t build ’em like that any more.

He was also a keen Leica collector and we spent many happy hours poring over his collection of screw-mount cameras and lenses and discussing the latest developments in the photographic world.  Peter, who lived in Nottingham, is survived by his children Stephen and Diane from his first marriage and by his wife Hertha and her son Lennart.

I took this pictures a few months ago with a Leica M and 50mm Summilux.
