One of the great joys of fostering an interest in Leica is the social side. Through forums, blogs and camera stores—not to mention chance encounters on the street—it is possible to built up quite a string of friendships. It’s one of the things I like about Leica—the instant recognition of a camera in hand and the possibility of a chat.
Forums, too, are a good place to meet and friendship formed on sites such as the Leica Forum can easily lead to social occasions. One such event took place yesterday, a meet at the Barbican in London to visit an exhibition followed by a lunch in Old Street.
I took along the Leica M-D with a new Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar that arrived from Zeiss for review last week. Also in the bag was the Olympus PEN-F with the rather fabulous 75mm M.Zuiko f/1.8, a lens that translates into a fast prime 150mm on m43. It is proving surprisingly good for street photography, although the 35mm brigade will disagree.
