Now chief strategist for Hasselblad: A selfie of Ming Thein

Respected photographer and blogger, Ming Thein, has joined Hasselblad as Chief of Strategy. For several years I have followed Ming’s blog with interest and am invariably impressed by his knowledge and experience of photography, not to mention is evocative product shots of wrist watches, just another of my particular fads.

During his time in the UK, before moving back to Malaysia, Ming was a well-known member of the Leica community. He will surely be a great asset to Hasselblad but I will be sorry if he is unable to carry on with his writing on a wide range of camera equipment. However, I am sure we all wish Ming the best of success in his new venture.

  1. Well, I guess Hasselblad is finished. Ming is a joke. They might as well hire Steve Huff as chief marketing officer.

    • That aspect hadn’t occurred to me, but of course you are absolutely right. I understand that the new Hasselblad hasn’t had a very easy ride so far, especially with Fuji crawling out of the woodwork with a competitor that is by all accounts faster in operation. So we’ll see what Ming makes of it.

    • You are right. When those restyled Sony cameras came out, Victor Hasselblad must have rotated in his grave. Apparently Hasselblad today has nothing to do with Hasselblad in the film days. Ming is a photographer with a good eye and talent, but being an artist is one thing. He’ll have a hard time to bring Hasselblad back into the tracks.
