Calling all PIXII owners — come and share your experiences

Do you own a PIXII? Especially so if you have the new version with monochrome capabilities. If you are an owner, we would be very interested in having your views and experiences and for you to share with us some of the photographs you’ve taken with the camera.

Up to now, despite several approaches, we haven’t been able to get our hands on a review camera. And since the PIXII is marketed directly by the manufacturer, we cannot simply visit a dealer and get some hands-on experience. This is definitely an interesting development that deserves wider coverage.

So if you are a PIXII owner, satisfied or otherwise, please leave a comment below. If any readers who don’t own a PIXII have views, especially on the monochrome aspect, let us know below.

    • Hi Laurent, for the time being, we have decided to do nothing and wait until review cameras are available to the press. At that time, I would like Jörg-Peter Rau to take the initiative and do whatever is necessary to put the camera through its paces. Best wishes. Mike.

  1. Hello Mike. I’m an early customer with a friendly relationship with David & Isa. You can contact me by Facebook (find me on the “Pixii Camera Users” page ) or Instagram (laurent bouchard photography) or with the hashtag #teampixii or #newpixii

    • Hi Laurent,

this is my last hope to get an answer from Pixii. I wrote to I. in March and never got a reply despite repeated aking for feedback every six weeks in the last half year. I offered to personally travel to France in order to pick up the camera, to conduct an interview with the Pixii pioneers and to share all this on tow relevant sites. An answer is the least I would expect.

I find the Pixii still intersting, and I would love to be convinced that their products are better than their communication. So maybe you could ask them to write me. And – please do not teach me that there are enough other reviews around (be them independent or not) and that I can look at other people’s photos. A review that deserves this name is, for me, based on a longer use of gear by the reviewer himself or herself and on his or her own pictures.

So thanks in advance if you can help somehow!

      Jörg-Peter

  2. Two reviews available on dearSusan …
You can also ask me. I offer many DNG « out of pixii » to download on a Dropbox.

    • Thank you, Laurent. I will be in touch to discuss possibilities. Do you by any chance have a relationship with the manufacturers or are you just an independent customer and user?

  3. I bought mine back in December. I enjoy it very much and have made three videos about it. Two review videos and one demo of the monochrome mode.

There is also a user group on Facebook where some owners share thoughts.

    • Thank you, Mattias. Very useful and I will certainly view the videos. I am also hoping to be able to try out a camera soon. I will add you to the list and keep in touch so we can share information.

  4. Waiting a review you can see pictures and comments :
On Facebook, since November, i post 4 or 5 subject about or with pixii by week. https://m.facebook.com/100003813896858/
you can also see a public page called « pixii camera’s users ». It’s a page managed by Mattias Burling, author of video reviews on YouTube.

On Instagram, facebook and Twitter search simply #teampixii or #newpixii

  5. I own a pixii since November. I love this Monochrom camera who deliver gorgeous colors. I’m not a reviewer but send me your questions and I do my best to give you informations and … pictures !

  6. The lack of critical review of this camera, in light of what they are trying to do (compete with Leica), is, well…worrying.
It seems like the camera is not ready for prime-time, and it seems like Pixii know this. They also seem content to let a few hundred early adopters act as beta testers.

    • Thanks for this, Richard. You have prompted my memory, and I now remember my friend Hamish Gill (of 35mmc) did have the chance to try an early camera. I will write to ask him what is happening and if he has had any more contact with the manufacturers.

  7. I don’t own any. I bought a French state-of-the-art amplifier some 40 years ago, but unfortunately, the company does not exist anymore. I wonder what their customer service will be in a few years. There’s absolutely no shop in France that distributes the camera. It has to be ordered directly at Pixii headquarters. This site is the best I can do, but I guess you must have looked at it.

    • Indeed I have. Jörg-Peter has tried to get a response for some time. The factory in France is not all that far from J-P’s home in Konstanz, and he would be willing to drive over for a hands-on. But I haven’t seen any independent reviews, as far as I can remember, and if any readers find links, please send them through.

    • Direct marketing is all very well, but it does take a leap of faith to order something as unusual and unproven as this from a website. If they could get a raft of independent reviews in the press and on blogs, then I think more people would have the confidence to order. If J-P could get one and be impressed, I would certainly consider buying one. It’s a good website but we need more encouragement.

      • The higher the price of the item, the greater the risk to buyers. You can segment your potential buyers by the risk tolerance and aversion and quantify.

To overcome that you need positive reviews from acknowledged recognized experts who have not been compromised by inducements.

It can work but you need all the pieces in place to overcome the sense of risk.

    • I am in solidarity with you, I myself own a talbot solara car bought 42 years ago and I no longer have any contact with their after-sales services as a pre-sales 😉 All this to tell you that I don’t really see the interest of your opening remark.

Otherwise I confirm that Pixii’s distribution method is direct. I think everyone can imagine what it means to enter a market as codified and structured as photography camera and understand that innovation in concept and industry must be relayed in terms of distribution and manufacturing processes (by the unit)
