Sandwiches at the cholera pump

0

This alfresco luncheon in London’s Soho would have been a perilous feast 158 years ago. The unsuspecting diners are sitting on the cholera pump in Broadwick Street (then Broad Street), the source of the 1854 cholera outbreak.  It gave local physician Dr. John Snow the evidence he needed that cholera was waterborne and not the result of a “miasma” in the air. Anyone for a skinny latte and a chocolate muffin?
