Leica made two important additions to its compact range at September’s Photokina. Both are cooperative ventures with Panasonic of Japan and both have been acclaimed as best-in-class models for the coming year. The D-Lux, with its unexpected four-thirds sensor, was one of the main talking points at the German show. The V-Lux (FZ1000) wasn’t far behind and surprised pundits with its large one-inch sensor and long 400mm zoom. Earlier this month I had the opportunity to borrow one of the first V-Lux models to arrive in Britain.
