Which Macfilos articles of 2022 attracted the most readers? Unsurprisingly, nine out of the Macfilos top ten posts feature Leicas, with reviews and product information being the most popular overall. Of the current Leica range, the M11 and the Q2 get top attention, although the fate of the Leica CL was also a magnet for readers.
Here are the articles that received the most views in 2022. And more readers mean more comments, one of the outstanding features of Macfilos. Our comments are invariably well-informed and temperate. Not for Macfilos readers, the bad temper and abuse that is such a common feature of some photography sites and forums.
You can see the number of comments in the panels below. The CL discussion attracted over 150 comments, reflecting the strength of disappointment in the demise of Leica’s APS-C range.
We wish all our readers, contributors and discussion forum participants a successful, peaceful and prosperous New Year. Together with our enthusiastic band of authors, I look forward to welcoming you back to our columns in 2023 and beyond. Thank you so much for your support in the past.

Happy new year to all
It might be interesting to have an article looking ahead to 2023. We know there’s a LUMIX S5 II coming, likely a Q3, likely an M11M, but what else might be on the horizon?
At the moment, I don’t think there is anything much to add to the article I wrote in December, linked in this article. I do think there will be more news from Panasonic, however. The S5 II is a toe in the water for the new AF system and I would not be surprised to find new versions of the other cameras in the LUMIX stable. We are also not sure whether the compacts co-marketed by Leica will be upgraded. On the Leica front, the only M11 variant I would like to see is a new M11-D, but that’s very much in the lap of the gods at the moment.
Mike
There have been rumors that the Summicron-SL 21mm (announced in 2018) will be coming shortly.
In time to wish the best. Have a great 2023!
Good articles and comments. And overall love and good luck
A happy new year to all and thanks Mike for keeping the site going.
Thank you Mike for another year’s most interesting Macfilos’ posts. One very useful news item was the announcement that former Leica Mayfair technician David Slater has commenced offering servicing / repairs for discontinued Leica digital cameras. David was thus able to fit (solder) a new internal battery to my 2005 vintage Leica DMR which now displays the date/time without the necessity to reset same when the main battery is removed and refitted. My Leica R8/DMR dslr combination now has a new lease of life and I’ll be taking full advantage of its film-like digital imaging. Happy New Year to all Macfilos’ readers and contributors.
Thank you, Dunk. I think several readers have found David’s services useful. It’s good to be able to share useful insights such as this. Happy new year to all. Mike
