The Leica M11 Family — M11, M11 Monochrom, M11-P and M11-D is now cured of occasional freezing problems when starting or shutting down the camera. Firmware 2.2.1 also addresses issues with the Content Credentials tool in M11-P and M11-D cameras.
As usual, download the new firmware to a formatted SD card before installation. Alternatively, use the Leica FOTOS app for a quickler experience. Download the Firmware 2.2.1 update file and the separate release notes document. The release covers all members of the Leica M11 family, and includes special instructions for updating the screenless M11-D version.
Upon its introduction, the M11-P was the first member of the Leica M11 family to incorporate the new Content Credentials feature, a method of ensuring authenticity of images. The Leica/Adobe system adheres to the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) open-source standard, but there are other new standards coming through. You can read more about this in our review of the M11-P.

A cup of coffee works wonders in supporting Macfilos
Did you know that Macfilos is run by a dedicated team of volunteers? We rely on donations to help pay our running costs. And even the cost of a cup of coffee will do wonders for our energy levels.
I retrieved another SD card, formatted it, and suddenly :Update Available” appeared in the FOTOS app. Downloaded without a problem. Not sure what had happened, as the other SD card is a newer, faster one that still works otherwise.

Thanks for the update, Ed.
I don’t see any firmware updates in FOTOS either.
I never ever could get the Leica Fotos app to connect. I had this problem with every camera up to and including m11 or SL2. I guess one needs to pay more for a camera. I never had a problem with any other brand….
My M11P is not showing the update in the Leica Fotos app, nor does it allow me to update even with a formatted SD card, with the downloaded file. Go figure.
