The Mini Eventer, the latest camera bag from UK manufacturer Billingham is designed specially for mirrorless camera systems, rangefinders and mid-sized DSLRs. It also finds space to accommodate an iPad or tablet up to 11in.

According to Billingham, many users of the larger Eventer bag found it a bit too large for their needs. So the team at Cradley Heath has designed a new version to sit between the Hadley Pro Small and the Hadley Pro 2020. Since I can never decide whether to pick up one or other of these bags, the Mini Eventer could be right up my street.
The Mini Eventer incorporates the latest comfort grip from the Hadley Pro 2020, a luggage trolley strap on the back and a waterproof zip pocket on the back.
The new bag is available in canvas or FibreNyte materials and comes in a range of colours, khaki, navy, sage and black, with contrasting leather protective panels and accessories.
Tradition says khaki, and this bag with chocolate trim is a handsome piece of kit The luggage trolley strap and zippered rear compartment are essential finishing touches for travellers
The Mini Eventer is available from Billingham retailers at a suggested selling price of £380, including VAT. You can also purchase direct from Billingham UK or Billingham USA.
PRESS RELEASE
New addition to the Billingham Camera Bag range provides outstanding protection for mirrorless cameras and mid-sized DSLRs.
Cradley Heath, UK – 26 October 2021: Billingham announces a new addition to their camera bag range, the ‘Mini Eventer’. Made in England, this new camera bag is perfect for carrying and protecting small mirrorless system cameras, rangefinders and mid-sized DSLRs and also includes space for an iPad or tablet up to 11”. Additionally, the ‘Mini Eventer’ boasts some handy extra features requested by customers to increase the bag’s utility, functionality and portability.
The Mini Eventer will be available from Tuesday 26 October 2021 at an SRP of £380.00 including VAT. The camera bag will be available to purchase from Billingham’s website www.billingham.co.uk, the website of their USA distributor www.billingham.com and through authorised retailers.

The ‘Mini Eventer’ was created following feedback from customers that whilst many loved the look and functionality of the ‘Eventer’, they found it was simply too big for their needs. Sized between two of Billingham’s best-selling bags , the ‘Hadley Small Pro’ and ‘Hadley Pro 2020’, the Mini Eventer is designed to meet the needs of those who want the ultimate style and protection for their gear in a more portable size.
Billingham have also added new features to the new ‘Mini Eventer’ such as:
• The addition of our recently developed handle, found on the Hadley Small Pro, for extra comfort and grip. The handle is reinforced by fibreglass to minimise stress, particularly when carrying heavy equipment.
• A durable luggage trolley retainer strap on the back of the bag, a popular and convenient feature for regular travellers.
• A dual, weatherproof zip on the main compartment for extra protection in heavy downpours.
• A weatherproof zip pocket on the back to securely store and protect important documents. The ‘Mini Eventer’ will include an SP50 Shoulder Pad, a removable padded insert and a padded divider set.
Like all Billingham bags, the ‘Mini Eventer’ will be made in both a three-layer waterproof canvas and a three-layer waterproof FibreNyte material, both of which never require re-proofing. Top-grain leather panels covering the lower third of the bag on all sides add protection and longevity. Together
they create a truly beautiful look and feel of luxury, whilst also making the bag understated and discrete.
These colour combinations will be available from launch:
• Khaki Canvas / Tan Leather
• Navy Canvas / Chocolate Leather
• Sage FibreNyte / Chocolate Leather
• Black FibreNyte / Black Leather
• Khaki FibreNyte / Chocolate Leather
The bag’s removable padded insert helps to protect camera equipment, and a small tablet, from knocks and bumps. The padded insert includes two removable vertical dividers that attach inside with Velcro, allowing up to 3 columns to be created inside, and two small ‘flap’ padded dividers that allow lenses to be stacked within these columns. In the back of the padded insert is a padded compartment suitable for storing an 11” iPad or similar smaller tablets.
Removing the padded insert allows the user to turn the bag from a camera bag to a casual bag in seconds.
The Mini Eventer has a shuttle woven, polyester shoulder sling sewn into its strong leather side patches that creates stability when the bag is being carried. The included ‘SP50’ Leather Shoulder Pad adds comfort when carrying the bag for long periods of time.

Oh, and I meant to reference the Ona Bowery. I also have the Brixton and that holds quite a lot more! Too many names…
I am often drawn to articles in which photographers list and describe what’s in their camera bag. Something that also frustrates me with those same articles is when the list, and accompanying photos, show a quantity of kit that couldn’t possibly fit in the bag. I have an Ona Brixton, amongst others, but, contrary to how it is portrayed elsewhere, no it wouldn’t fit two M10 bodies, lenses, cloths, batteries etc, etc.
That is a long-winded way of saying that I wouldn’t mind a review of this bag that shows exactly what it comfortably fits — eg can I get an SL type body with an attached 24-70 zoom and hood in and out easily with a spare prime lens and a couple of batteries also stowed away?
(By the way, the little Brixton I mentioned will happily fit an SL2-S with a Summarit 50mm attached, two spare batteries and a lens cloth — but don’t try anything bigger!)
Sorry but I haven’t had a chance to examine this bag yet. In my experience, there’s a difference between what will fit and what fits comfortably enough to make the bag useful.
I totally agree Mike, and my comment was in no way a criticism — more of hope that we might see such a review when/ if you get your hands on one. What “comfortably fits” is often the missing part of reviews I’ve seen elsewhere.
There was a review yesterday on the thephoblograher.com.
Thanks, I’ll have a read 🙂
I love my Billingham camera bags. Strangely, B&H does not seem to stock them anymore except for one.
My Billingham bags will outlast my grandchildren.
I think they would sell even better if they looked at Leica product descriptions. The Billingham descriptions are boring beyond belief. When I read a leica marketing message it appeals to my artist nature and I press the purchase button and am never disappointed.
Every time I choose a Billingham bag to head out in the wilds, it is like picking a companion to go on an adventure with. I name all my camera equipment, and they appreciate being in the security of my Billingham protecting them from all threats. 🥰
